Bio

My name is Jackie Morin.  People who know me call me Jack, something my brothers started when we were tiny little kids.

I created my Raynedrop Kysses blog to share my memoir's and stories of me growing up. I wanted to share with others that although life can be tough, there's always positivity in everything. Everything I went through in my life was for a reason, I truly believe that. It made me the strong and loving person that I am today and, for that, I am thankful.  https://raynedropkysses.wordpress.com/

I came up with the name Raynedrop-Kysses from my grandparents, Ray and Esther. I would kiss them good night every night before going to bed. To this day, I can still remember their kisses... granny's full and moist while grandpa's were thin lipped and dry with a tickle from his mustache. My grandfather would also sing me the song, "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head." He never knew the whole song, just that one line. He would sing it over and over again in the gravel driveway, as he danced his way to the barbecue pit to cook some brats. The three lips in my logo represent each one of our kisses. Together with their smoochies and this song, Raynedrop-Kysses was born.

I enjoy expressing myself through my writings, as well as through my art. I majored in accounting while in college and ended up in a bunch of art classes instead. I realized that math wasn't my forte! I recently retired... or let's just say that after 30 years as an administrative assistant working with neurosurgeons, I was let go due to cutbacks and Covid. So, it was at this time that my husband and I made the decision to sell our home of over 31 years and move out of Chicago, where he, too, can share in the thrill of retirement. So, we moved to Decatur! I have been married for over 33 years now and I have two children, a daughter and a son, both of whom are artistic as well. They are now  grown up and out on their own. (Where did that time go?!) I have three cats and a mini golden doodle puppy.

I am from Madison, Wisconsin and grew up partly in Wisconsin and partly in Chicago. My younger years were on a farm, living with my grandparents. Best time of my life!

Now that I have extra time on my hands, I felt that it was time to set up a website and see if I could sell some of my art. I dabble in all mediums.  Steampunk, mosaics, acrylics, paper, but, my favorite is watercolors.

Art can be very personal and expressive.  It's whatever you decide to make it. It's whatever makes your creative juices flow, what makes you feel deep within and bring it out in the open, in a piece of art. I love creating things differently, with a twist. I enjoy drawing the naked body, as they are graceful and pure beauty, especially a woman's. I like to draw them in abstract form and painting them every color under the rainbow.

I also make jewelry. I like taking vintage jewelry and creating new pieces, necklaces and bracelets, etc. I enjoy creating unique hand-crafted items that are shabby chic or steampunk.

So, while you're here, please take a look around my site. I am still new at this site stuff, so please excuse any dust that my soul may have left behind.

Thank you for stopping by!

Jack
